Mrs. Choi is our school librarian. Each class comes to the library every week to check out books and learn library skills.  The primary grades learn the basics of handling books, behavior in libraries, checking out books and parts of a book.  They also have story time, when Mrs. Choi reads books from our collection.   Beginning in 2nd grade, students are taught how to do book searches on the computer.  There is no internet access on the library computers; they are only used for book selection.   The older students learn more about the sections of the library; how to find books in fiction, nonfiction and biographies.  They understand the importance of call numbers and the Dewey Decimal System.  To reinforce this understanding, students participate in activities and competitions involving research and critical thinking.  Students and teachers may also access the library database to locate books for any research projects from their classroom computers.
