    GATE PROGRAM

LANDELL'S STUDENT COUNCIL

Landell’s Student Council is elected each fall and spring to serve a half-year term. Students in grades 4 - 6 may run for an office. All upper grade classrooms elect two representatives to the council. The Student Council meets bimonthly during their lunch time to discuss school and community issues. Each council develops their leadership skills by organizing school improvement and community service projects. They assist the principal and the PTA at all assemblies and school events. They plan school spirit activities such as Crazy Hair Day or Pajama Day. When available, they conduct live broadcasts to the student body on Landell TV to report on school news and special events.

LANDELL'S GATE PROGRAM

The purpose of the Margaret Landell School GATE (Gifted and Talented Education Program) is to provide differentiated learning opportunities that meet the needs, interest, and abilities of students identified as Gate in Grades 4-6.

The Landell School GATE Program will provide students with opportunities to expand their knowledge by using higher level thinking skills and creative expression.  The program will promote leadership skills, communication skills, and positive self-concepts.
